Life happens, and sometimes we need a helping hand. As your therapist, I extend my hand to you as a partner in your journey. The foundation of a positive relationship is trust. Therapeutic change comes from a collaborative approach that builds on respect, acceptance, understanding, and the desire to achieve well-being.
I work with my clients to create a plan that is uniquely tailored to their needs. I work from a counseling framework that is culturally responsive and unifying while honoring diversity. I acknowledge that society, politics, and culture may create barriers to well-being, and that they can inform the development of self. I work with clients to help build their strengths, bolster resiliency, and regain well-being.
In addition to assisting clients in navigating life’s challenges, I work with adults and adolescents who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma. Some of the approaches that I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Brainspotting, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I draw upon the rich resources of a variety of modalities designed to assist in wellness, including the use of expressive arts. As a 500-hour trained yoga teacher, I value mindfulness highly. I incorporate mindfulness training with all my clients to introduce skills that are accessible, portable, and beneficial. When working with couples, I integrate Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Collaborative Couples Therapy.
When she is not in session, Alicia enjoys spending time outside walking her dog or sitting on the porch drinking tea. She loves spending time with family and hanging out with loved ones. Alicia is excited to be back in Texas, eating great food, and enjoying the sunshine.
