Taking the first step to enter counseling is a courageous and terrifying thing to do.  There is so much freedom in choosing to take control over your circumstances and live the life you deserve.  While society can often encourage us to manage stress and difficulties alone, I view counseling as a partnership - it is not something that you will have to do alone.  The counseling room is a safe space for you to share.  As your therapist, it is my responsibility to let you lead your own personal journey toward healing, self-awareness, and pursuing personal goals.  I plan to meet you where you are and provide you with the necessary tools to help guide you where you want to go.  I am here to support you every step of the way.

The foundation of my counseling approach is “Person Centered” which focuses on building an open, trustworthy, and compassionate counselor-client relationship.  I can also tend toward using an eclectic approach, but most importantly I want to figure out what works best for you.  My philosophy to counseling is based in being non-judgmental, understanding, and compassionate with everyone that I work with.  Building a supportive counseling relationship is key to assisting you in your therapeutic journey.  My hope is to support and provide guidance wherever you may be in life.  I am passionate about continuing to learn and research counseling techniques and interventions whether it be for child/adolescent, adult, family or couple clients.

I enjoy working with a variety of clients ranging from adolescents to adults, and I have had the opportunity to assist clients with a variety of concerns.  My professional background includes working in community mental health, juvenile justice, prevention, and education.  My work with adolescents has included providing a safe space for them to be themselves, gain healthy coping skills, and improve communication in all areas of their lives.  In addition to working with adolescents, I also enjoy working with families.  I believe that familial issues can be a source for distress in our lives.  Identifying patterns and family dynamics can assist in the creation of new healthy patterns.  I also have sex therapy training in my background.  This education assists me in educating and empowering both individuals and couples regarding healthy communication, sex education, and sex related difficulties.  My work with individual clients includes, but is not limited to, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship issues, and coping skills.

I believe in having a work-life balance.  When I am not in session, I love spending time with my 6 year old - one of our favorite things is to have “dance offs” in our kitchen.  I also enjoy traveling, cooking (but mostly eating), binge watching Netflix, and trying new wines from my favorite place, Trader Joe’s.
