Taking the first step can be difficult. Whether you're struggling with intense emotions, like depression or anxiety, reoccurring conflict in peer relationships, or seeking to find some direction and purpose, you may find yourself uncertain and overwhelmed. Managing the fast pace of life and “adulting” is much tougher than anyone anticipates, and you may be feeling a lack of balance in your life. I provide support and a non-judgmental environment for you to process, explore and evaluate your concerns. In counseling, you can get tools and skills to make real changes or use the space to process thoughts and stress.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, establishing a therapeutic relationship founded on trust and authenticity. A relationship-focused on understanding you, your world, and your experiences. As a counselor, I use principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy, while being informed through a multicultural lens to best fit my clients. I have extensive training working with the LGBTQ+ population. Being a part of this marginalized community gives me a unique passion as a therapist and a deep love for supporting this population with coming out, managing relationships, and growing in self-acceptance.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including community health agencies, psychiatric hospitals, non-profits, and college counseling centers. As an adjunct professor, I enjoy teaching counseling students the fundamentals of counseling and providing training in basic techniques to the more advanced skills for professional development.
When I’m not counseling, I’m maintaining my own work-life balance, trying new brunch places with friends around Houston, using almost every streaming service to binge new and old series, and being active playing tennis and lifting weights.
