Maja Besirevic White, M.S., LPC, NCC, CCATP
Licensed Professional Counselor
We live in a challenging and quite complicated world. As we struggle with our hardships, it is important to remember that we don’t have to go through it alone. Therapy is a big commitment, but it can also be a space where you have the opportunity to heal, grow, and embrace your authentic self.
As a former educator as well as a therapist, I have discovered the importance of building people up and helping them recognize their full potential. I believe in the power of the individual and one’s ability to persevere and thrive. I believe that each individual has a set of talents and skills within that may be overlooked at times. My job is to help you dig up those specific strengths and utilize them as part of the solution building process. I will also teach you a new set of skills and help you decide what works and what doesn’t. Although there will be times when we feel overwhelmed and defeated, it is important to remind ourselves that we are brave and resilient.
I use an integrative therapeutic approach which consists of Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Solution-Focused, Play therapy, Expressive Arts therapy, as well as Mindfulness and Narrative therapy techniques. I also specialize in ADHD coaching and Co-parenting. My therapeutic approach is based on my client’s specific needs since each individual is authentic and has a story like no one else.
I have over a decade of experience working with young children and adolescents and genuinely enjoy guiding and empowering the youth. I incorporate a variety of play therapy techniques to help your child process, cope, and have the opportunity to express themselves in a safe and engaging environment.
I am also extremely passionate about working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, divorce, co-parenting, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem, stress, addiction, suicidal ideation, and school or work-related issues. Through my compassionate outlook and dedication to this profession, I am deeply committed to building a safe and trusting relationship with my clients and empowering them each and every step of the way.
When I’m not in session, I love spending time with my husband and our daughter as well as our close family and friends. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, kayaking, and jumping in for a swim while at the pool or beach. My family and I also love traveling the world and learning about different cultures. Trying out different restaurants, attending food and cultural festivals, and exploring the art scene are some of our favorite Houston activities.
