August Position of the Month: The Spread Eagle Flip

Here to bring some newness to your intimate connection this August, is our #PositionOfTheMonth: The Spread Eagle Flip.  In the journey of maintaining a healthy and satisfying relationship, intimacy plays a crucial role.  For couples seeking to deepen their connection, trying new experiences in the bedroom can be both exciting and beneficial.  The “Spread Eagle Flip” position—a variation on a classic that can enhance both physical and emotional intimacy – is just the thing to try out this August.

Setup:  The Spread Eagle Flip is an advanced variation of the traditional “Spread Eagle” position.  The traditional Spread Eagle Flip starts with the partner being penetrated lying on their back with their legs spread wide while the penetrating partner enters/penetrates from above (think penetrating position for missionary).  What sets this variation apart is the “flip” element.  The penetrating partner moves from a dominant, forward-facing position to a more dynamic, side-facing, or rear-facing position.  This position can be completed doing either a side penetration or rear penetration.  Rear-facing penetration may require the partner being penetrated to flip spread-eagle on their stomach (more like the splits).  This fluid transition, from spread eagle to spread eagle flip, requires communication, coordination, and trust, making it an excellent exercise for couples looking to strengthen their connection.

Benefits: The physical closeness required in this position fosters a deep sense of intimacy. The transition aspect—where one partner must be attuned to the other’s movements and reactions—enhances trust and communication.  Routine can sometimes dull the spark in a relationship. Introducing a new position like the Spread Eagle Flip can add excitement and anticipation, rekindling the passion between partners.  This position also encourages full-body contact, which can lead to more intense physical sensations and a deeper emotional connection.  The variety of angles also allows for exploration of different pleasure points, enhancing the overall experience.  Successful execution of the Spread Eagle Flip requires verbal and non-verbal communication, reinforcing the importance of being present and responsive to your partner’s needs.  This can translate into better communication outside the bedroom as well.

Recommendations for success: I will begin by making my standard recommendations (as always): engage in foreplay to help assist in both partners being aroused and ready and if natural lubrication is a struggle, be sure to keep additional lubrication readily available.  If this position is new to you, take your time.  Start with the traditional Spread Eagle and slowly introduce the “flip” element.  Communication is key—check in with your partner to ensure they are comfortable and enjoying the experience.  Placing pillows under the back or hips can provide additional support and comfort, making the transition smoother and more enjoyable.  Maintaining eye contact during intimate moments like this can intensify the emotional connection, making the experience more fulfilling for both partners.  The beauty of the Spread Eagle Flip lies in its versatility.  Experiment with different angles to find what feels best for both of you.  Don’t be afraid to adjust or try something new.  Remember, the goal is to enjoy each other’s company and explore your connection!  If something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to communicate, adjust, and/or try a different position.  The journey is as important as the destination.

Incorporating positions like the Spread Eagle Flip into your intimate life can be a rewarding way to deepen your bond with your partner. It’s about more than just physical pleasure—it’s about building trust, enhancing communication, and rediscovering each other in new and exciting ways. Whether you’re trying to rekindle a long-term relationship or simply exploring new avenues of connection, this position can offer both fun and fulfillment. So, why not give it a try this August and see where the journey takes you?
