Denise Castro, M.S., LPC-S, PMH-C
Seeking help for life’s struggles is not an easy task, especially when it requires our emotional exposure to hard topics. I believe therapy is an investment in yourself because you are worth it. My role as your therapist is to be by your side and help guide, encourage, and challenge you to find your true self. I promise to offer a relaxed space where you feel warm, validated, and understood.
My areas of focus include working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, relationship challenges, trauma, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Regardless of diagnosis, I find most of my clients are interested in increasing emotion regulation skills, communication, and interpersonal skills, and exploring more of their internal experience. I also have extensive history working with children, adolescents, and families. I enjoy helping parents navigate the ever-changing challenges that arise in raising children of all ages.
I have a passion for working with the perinatal population and am a certified perinatal mental health professional (PMH-C). I work with those experiencing postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and postpartum obsessive-compulsive disorder. I enjoy working on women’s issues and the unique female experience throughout the lifespan. I continually engage in education, training, and advocacy efforts specific to the perinatal population.
I have a special interest in exploring the mind-body connection and will incorporate mindfulness-based techniques, somatic experiencing, and Person-Centered therapy to help you set realistic goals for yourself and take steps towards a more joyful and fulfilling life. I meet my clients where they’re at and they lead the sessions, but I also challenge them to be the best version of themselves.
My goal is to hold space for each client in a manner that allows them to safely share their stories, struggles and hopes for healing. I truly strive to offer a calm, comfortable, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for all and am constantly humbled by the vulnerable work my clients allow me to be a part of.
Most of all, I want you to find healing and have courage to face the unexpected parts of life. I am here to support you on your journey, whatever that may be.
Outside of session, I enjoy running races with my friends, spending time with family and my dogs.
