Life does not come with a roadmap (or set of GPS directions) . . . which can make it quite the journey to navigate! Sometimes there seems to be endless “what ifs” about what the future may hold and what could have gone differently in the past. Often, it seems that enjoying the present is difficult to do when we have an inner dialogue that just will not quit.  I believe that therapy can provide a better sense of “self-direction” in navigating the endless maze of life. As such, I collaboratively work with my clients to discover how one’s persona has been shaped by past experiences and how focusing on one’s values and strengths can help direct the path forward.

In individual therapy, we will explore self-narratives and how these stories impact emotions and thought patterns. Using aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we will examine how self-defeating thought processes may have developed by bringing these patterns to the forefront of awareness. We will navigate life stressors by building a genuine, trusting relationship in therapy. My goal is for you to embrace the true version of yourself, however awkward, goofy, emotional or “imperfect” you may feel. In couples therapy, I utilize the Gottman Method of relationship therapy and have advanced clinical training in this method. We will explore the history of the relationship, analyze patterns of conflict, and identify shared meaning within the partnership. We will then work collaboratively to strengthen the relationship using various interventions to foster communication, empathy, and mutual admiration.

I believe that all ages thrive in counseling when an authentic relationship is built. In the adult population, I primarily work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, parenting stress, relationship difficulties, career challenges and grief. Additionally, I specialize in working with clients that have high-achieving tendencies and experience high levels of stressors in their lives due to these characteristics. I guide clients in establishing coping skills for stress, establishing a healthy work-life balance, and finding meaning and gratitude in the present. I also have extensive experience in working with individuals with autism and completed my dissertation for my Ph.D. in the field of autism research. As a Licensed School Psychologist, I have helped children and adolescents navigate the myriad of social, athletic and academic stressors of being in school in this modern time. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to counseling and will tailor our sessions based on your personality and needs.

I value creating memories and experiences.  In my spare time you will find me chasing after and being silly with my son, traveling with my family, creating “foodie” dinners at home with my husband, cuddling with my Fox Red Labrador Retriever (yes, his red hair perfectly matches mine) and doing endurance activities like hiking, swimming, peloton-ing and running (because I lack the hand-eye coordination required for other physical activities) If I have the time, I love a good scrapbooking session because documenting the good times in life with people I love is what keeps me going!
